The Washington Post also writes "Ayad Allawi, the former interim Iraqi leader who is widely seen as the United States' preferred candidate in the Dec. 15 elections, was attacked by a mob in Najaf."

With the situation in Irag, he needs some kind of fortress to hide in until after the elections and, even then, his chances for a long and healthy term seem slim. The Florida voter fiasco is going to seem like nothing but a prelude to this one. Does anyone think the fix is NOT in?
